JANUARY 29th 2016: 'INNER REFLECTIONS' PERFORMANCE ART INSTALLATION SHOWS AGAIN AT THE LA ART SHOW

'Inner Reflections' made its appearance at the prestigious LA Art Show 2016 with attendance of over 60,000 people. The installation was up for two days and the full performance program was a great success once again.
This time we collaborated with the amazing Bunnie Reiss who created a fairy tale spectacle to match and contrast the urban surroundings.
The cast once again carried the audience on an unforgettable journey and we were thrilled to feel the audience connecting so intimately with the work.

'Inner Reflections' is our first repertory piece and we couldn't be more proud. It is also our first performance art installation and we are looking forward new developments and collaborations.

'Many people don't know this about me but about four years ago I had an existential breakdown. I was making a living as a quite successful performer. I was working in all the hottest nightclubs and performing at music festivals all around the world. I loved it, but something was missing and I couldn't ignore it. I felt a calling to go deeper and I had no idea how I was going to keep pretending to be sexy and alluring as my ego was crumbling beneath the surface. I thought I was going to have to stop performing altogether. I could no longer put on a mask because everything inside me said "take it off". "Stop trying to be perfect and be real". So I did. What began to come after that was a mastery of something beyond my wildest imagination. Instead of sharing what I thought everyone wanted to see I began to share my soul. It wasn't always pretty and sometimes I got lost in between the moments but at the end of it all people would come up to me and tell me they cried. I decided to teach this class for that very reason. It occurred to me that I could share this healing with others. That true Embodiment was not perfecting a move or a line but being fully present, real and authentic.'

NYE 2016: OUR FIRST PERFORMANCE ART INSTALLATION PRESENTS AT THE GRAND PARK IN DT LOS ANGELES

Inner Reflections' is a performance art installation consisting in a 16x8x8ft mirror box: the long sides are composed by large two way mirror walls, the smaller facades are available for artistic collaborations. At Grand Park on NYE 2016 we were delighted to welcome artist & structure designer Michaela Devon Kary who created a multilevel piece resulting in a clever effect that offered an intriguing sense of depth. Thanks to our ongoing artistic relationship with the innovative Carmen Zella at Now Art (formally known as Do Art), we were able to present the piece in its full glory at such most popular Los Angeles New Year's Eve event to an audiance of over 50,000 people. We are proud to say it was beautifully received and are so grateful for this invaluable opportunity.

APRIL 2016: OUR FIRST INTERNATIONAL MEETING

Around mid April, artistic director Linda Borini traveled to St. George Penang, Malaysia to meet with the developers of The Habitat, a nature walk in the heart of stunning Penang Hill designed to preserve its natural rain forest. In collaboration with The Georgetown Festival, happening every year through the month of August all across Penang, The Ubuntudance Project allies with the fantastic visionary Alicia Shultze and The Habitat to create a site specific multimedia performance to be gracing the nature walk for alternative performance art tours of the park. During her visit, Linda had the pleasure to also meet with the Georgetown Festival artistic director Joe Sidek and a mutual appreciation quickly developed. We are excited to see how these relationships will develop in the future and look forward any kind of collaboration with these incredible humans dedicated to make the world a better place filled with ethical art and clean air.

Thank you Malaysia!

DECEMBER 17th 2016: OUR FIST SOLO SHOW

'The Mirror Box'

Premiere in Los Angeles at the Mimoda Studio, Hollywood. A short program of the production was performed on September 3rd at the Peace of Mind Art.Music. Soul Fest in Downtown Los Angeles with rave reviews. We are excited to be presenting our first extended program.
'The Mirror Box' is a journey into our ability to cope with our innate sense of humanity and how we interact with it socially. Some of the topics we explore are tolerance, equality, loss, competition, mental illness, body image, passion, choices.. Infused with spoken word poetry, live music, dance, acrobatics, performance and interactive theatre, this is a journey into our beautifully flawed design and the lyrical impression it leaves through the darkest acts of life.
